Technical Background

Microelectronic Components

Processors and components are constantly increasing processing power while decreasing in size. Due to smaller and more powerful parts a number of new features can be implemented in digital systems like cameras, smart phones or every other portable device. The advantages in the EXTU Camera System would be e.g. higher frame rates during videos (up to 400fps), which create super slow-motion that capture incredible shots, that were never possible before with semi-professional cameras. More processing power also means, that more complex algorithms can be used to process input data in the same amount of time or faster than today's CPUs.

Image Sensor

As the other micro components, image sensors capture more light with each new sensor generation. This is accomplished by more sensitive pixel sensors, a greater surface used on the chip or better micro lenses that focus incoming light at each pixel. This better image sensor not only allows to take pictures or videos at darker places or with less exposure time, it also opens the possibility to create much smaller chips and therefore smaller lenses and cameras, that perform like today's DSLRs or even better. By replacing today's ASP or Micro Four Third sensors with a better 1” image sensor (12,80x9,60mm, crop factor: 2,73) the whole package reduces in size while maintaining resembling properties.

Lenses

In combination with the image sensor, lenses are the most vital components in cameras, which is why they are also the most expensive. High end optical polymers and coatings as well as computer controlled cutting machines create lenses with better refraction and transmission properties which make them smaller and more efficient.

Display Technology

New OLED technology allows transparent and even flexible display sheets, that can also be directly printed on surfaces like glass or plastic. This technology consumes very little energy, offers extremely high contrast ratios (>1:1M) and is the future all-round solution for monitors.

Extendibility

The range of extendable modules not only inculdes classical add-ons, but also the inner components, that can be exchanged to keep the processing components up to date without changing the whole body.
